Nice quick consult with a local installation company today (J Lee Associates Inc in Marlborough, MA).  The consultant (Alden) took a look at my main panel, distance to the mounting location, and left me a nice poster to mark the install location (if I choose to go with the EVSE-RS):

Next - the charger (J1772 - the current standard):


Because this car has a significantly sized lithium-ion battery (32 Kwh), a high amp/voltage charger is recommended, so BMW is making a consultation with Aerovironment mandatory.
